Mission

——

Sunflower Hill creates “places and spaces” where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) can live, learn, work and thrive. Our first affordable housing community, Irby Ranch in Pleasanton, opened in 2020. Three additional communities in Lafayette and Dublin, are now in development. Our in-person programs at Irby Ranch and at our one-acre garden at Hagemann Ranch in Livermore provide valuable and immersive vocational, education and social opportunities for individuals with I/DD.

——

Kari Hall: Advocate, Mom, Meteorologist

Kari HallWe are thrilled to welcome Special Guest Kari Hall to our Roll Out the Red Carpet Gala! Kari is an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist and a trusted voice on NBC Bay Area’s Today in the Bay. At this year’s gala, she will be greeting and interviewing our VIP guests, rolling out a dazzling red carpet experience filled with warmth, glamour, and unforgettable moments worthy of a premiere night.

Kari and her husband, Kinnane, are proud parents to KJ and Bella – both on the autism spectrum. As a mom of two special‑needs kids, Kari brings a powerful, personal commitment to building a more inclusive, supportive, and sustainable future, both on and off the air. Her voice, her advocacy, and her heart make her an inspiring addition to this year’s celebration.

John Lengyel: Dad, Sunflower Hill Board Member

John Lengyel

We are honored to welcome John Lengyel as a featured speaker! John’s connection to Sunflower Hill is deeply personal—rooted in the remarkable growth he witnessed in his daughter, Becca, through the community garden and virtual classes during the pandemic. Seeing her blossom into an accomplished artist and confident cook transformed his family’s life.

Inspired by that impact, John joined the Board of Directors in January 2026, where he now advocates for the entire special needs community. His passion extends far beyond his own family; he champions individuals with special needs, their resilient families, and the dedicated providers who create true belonging.

We are grateful for John’s leadership, heart, and unwavering commitment to helping Sunflower Hill continue to transform lives.
