Volunteer activities include typical horticulture tasks like harvesting, planting, weeding, mulching, and composting. Regular garden volunteers can also qualify to work directly alongside our program participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We also welcome collaborations with large community organizations and corporations to plan and execute significant construction projects to enhance and maintain the garden. No experience is required.

Are you interested in working with us on Saturday morning in the garden? This monthly volunteer opportunity is an excellent way to learn more about our garden and discover how your horticulture skills can make a difference. Designed for the whole family, our Saturday volunteer days warmly welcome supervised I/DD individuals and participants under 16. Join us for a fulfilling and fun experience!
2nd Saturdays: 9 am to 12 noon.

This program is designed for experienced horticulture volunteers interested in working in the Garden. Volunteers must be 13 years or older.

The Sunflower Hill Garden at Hagemann Ranch is an ideal setting for youth organizations and service clubs looking to make a meaningful impact through community service. We welcome groups twice a month, and each volunteer session lasts approximately three hours, providing plenty of time to connect, contribute, and make a difference.
Groups are also welcome to participate in our Second Saturday individual volunteer program, where we’ll match you with a project that suits your interests and skills. For youth volunteer groups, all participants under 18 must have parental or guardian consent, and we require one adult chaperone for every five youth volunteers. Youth participants must be 13 years or older.

Are you looking for a fun-filled day for your employees? A way to give back to our community? We are now taking reservations for our 2025 corporate workdays. We love working with corporations seeking community volunteer workdays for their employees. We offer personalized workday opportunities that can be designed with your employees in mind twice a month from March through October. Whether your group is large or small, our corporate program is tailored to elevate your overall garden experience, offering specialized projects or various garden tasks that enhance volunteer engagement and impact. Examples include hands-on, experiential opportunities such as building a pergola, constructing wheelchair-accessible areas and pathways in the garden, building a large compost bin, or laying the foundation for a structure.
We typically schedule two corporate workdays a month and can accommodate your schedule. The minimum number of employees/individuals for a specialized workday is 10.
