What Inspires You About Sunflower Hill?

Location of Contest
Your own home, neighborhood, city park or sidewalk. This is a virtual contest so you can make your own art at a location convenient to you. Please remember to practice social distancing and follow all local, state and federal laws and regulations. Please do not deface any public or private property with permanent paints. Only washable chalk is allowed for this contest.

Prizes

  • Grand Prize Winner: The entry with the most votes will have their chalk art image featured on the Sunflower Hill website, our social media and in our November 2020 newsletter.
  • Top 12 Winners: The top 12 chalk art images with the most votes will have their art featured in Sunflower Hill’s 2021 notecards, and receive a free package of notecards. If an individual has submitted more than one entry, their top entry will be selected for use in the 2021 notecards.
  • All winners will be notified via the email they used to submit their entry.

Design Rules

  • Artists must supply their own chalk and supplies.
  • Your design can be whatever you wish it to be, but should support the theme: What Inspires You About Sunflower Hill.
  • This is a family friendly event. Any entries with depictions that are racist, political, cause-related (excluding Sunflower Hill), religious, contain swearing, gang signs, sexual references, violence or depictions of violence, nudity or other offensive material or depictions will be rejected. If your entry violates any of these excluded categories, an email will be sent to the individual submitting the entry noting the specific reason for the rejection.
  • Your entry can be of any size you wish it to be as long as it can be seen entirely in one photograph image.
  • Your entry should include an image of your chalk art only. No images with people in them will be accepted.
  • Props are allowed to be used in your drawing as long as they are on the ground and are not of people.
  • Drawings must be on the ground only. Drawings that incorporate the sides of buildings, benches, etc. will be rejected.
  • Drawings must be done with washable chalk only. Brushes, rollers and aerosols may be used in the creation of your drawing provided the aerosols are environmentally safe and can be washed off using only water or rain.

Entry Rules

  • Individuals may submit as many entries as they like. However, only one entry per person may be chosen as a Top 12 Winner.
  • There is NO FEE to enter a drawing for the contest.
  • Entries are to be submitted by emailing one (1) photograph image (attached as a high resolution, print ready TIFF or PDF image) to us via email. Low resolution or fuzzy images will not be accepted.
  • Entries must include Moonlight at Home Chalk Art Contest in the subject line.
  • Entries must include the name of artist, email address of artist, age of artist, what inspired the artist to enter the contest and a short bio of the artist (1-2 sentences). Valid entries must also include, name of parent/legal guardian (for minors only), physical address of artist parent/legal guardian, city, state, zip, phone number (only used to contact the artist/parent/legal guardian to notify of winning prize).
  • Only first names, ages of individuals under the age of 21 and connections to Sunflower Hill will be posted.
  • Entries can be submitted starting September 23, 2020.
  • Last day to submit an entry is October 19, 2020.
  • No locations (city/state) or any entry including any individual person will be accepted. Only images of the chalk art will be accepted.
  • All copyrights of the chalk art and photographs belong to the chalk artist, parent or legal guardian.
  • Upon receipt of your chalk art entry, you agree to give Sunflower Hill license to publish the image in the contest, use of the image for promotion of the contest, news/media reporting and displaying of the results and license to include the winning images in our 2021 notecards and on our website, utilizing the image or its contents.
  • Sunflower Hill reserves the right to refuse any entry for any reason.
  • Once an entry is accepted, Sunflower Hill will enter the image into the contest website and email the individual entering the contest with a unique link to their submission.
  • Entries may be submitted from any physical location.
  • Entry approval or denial will be given within 48 hours of email submission.

How To Vote

Once an entry has been accepted, approved, and published to the contest website, the individual submitting the entry will be sent a special link via email. That link can then be shared with family and friends for people to vote.

  • Each vote is $5. All voting fees will be used to support the mission and vision of Sunflower Hill.
  • A person may vote as often as they wish and on as many entries as they wish to vote on. A credit/debit card will be required to cast a vote.
  • Voting fees are tax deductible as allowed by law. Sunflower Hill is a 501(c)(3) organization. EIN #80-0897595. A tax receipt will be given upon completion of voting purchase.
  • No credit/debit card is needed to view the artwork.
  • Voting opens for each chalk art entry when the submitted entry is approved and uploaded to the contest website. Voting ends at 11:59 PM (Pacific) on October 22, 2020.
