Best Shelter-in-Place Shows
February 17, 2021
During my time off from being the Residential Programs Manager (which I LOVE), watching TV and movies is one of the ways that I escape the stress of this time, refresh, laugh, and yes, sometimes cry.
Recently, I was talking with a couple of our Sunflower Hill at Irby Ranch residents who also expressed their love of TV and movies. They shared some of the new shows they have discovered since the shelter-in-place order was put into effect. Our conversation was filled with laughter and excitement for what we have been watching as we chatted about our love of being entertained! Our residents and I thought it would be fun to share our Best Shelter-in-Place Shows list:
Irby Ranch Resident Review – Best Shelter-in-Place Shows
Matt F enjoys watching Friends and Whose Line Is It Anyway. They make the viewers laugh and have a great time, he says.
Jenn R recommends Mean Girls. She says that the movie is funny and entertaining.
Andrew B recommends Swamp People, WWE Monday Night Raw, and Top Gear. He thinks these shows are super entertaining!
Kenny S recommends Umbrella Academy, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Adventure Time, and the Mandalorian. Kenny shares that these shows “have a good balance of action and comedy, and I like the storylines they tell.”
I see a lot of comedy shows in the list above! With all that is going on in the world these days, we all need a good laugh now and then!
Pratima’s Favorite Shelter-in-Place Shows
In addition to several that our residents mentioned above, I’ve also discovered some exciting new shows during the shelter-in-place. I’m a huge comic book and anime fan – so my list reflects that passion! Here are a few of the shows I’ve enjoyed watching this past year:
Doctor Who – if you love aliens and other sci-fi things, this is the best! There is action, comedy, romance, etc.
Umbrella Academy – did you know this is based on a comic book series written by Gerard Way, the lead vocalist of My Chemical Romance?
Doom Patrol – DC Comics superhero show.
Stranger Things – I love the alien and sci-fi themes in this show! It is so good – plus superpowers!
Thanks to those residents who shared their list of favorite shelter-in-place shows with me! Next month we’ll be sharing our Resident Tips & Reviews blog article; Favorite Shelter-in-Place Dish Recipe!
Until then, happy viewing!
