Giving Tuesday 2024

Join us for this global day of generosity, where small acts of kindness and collective giving come together to make a significant impact.

This year, we’re thrilled to partner with the Community Health and Education Foundation (CHEF) for a unique matching opportunity!  Every donation made through our fundraising link on CHEF’s website between December 3 and December 10 will be matched at 50%, up to $10,000. That means your support could help us unlock an additional $5,000 to fuel Sunflower Hill’s impactful programs!

The fundraising link will go live at midnight on December 3.  Please donate directly through CHEF’s website to qualify your generous donations for the matching campaign.  Thank you for supporting Sunflower Hill and positively impacting the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)!

Donate through the CHEF platform for Sunflower Hill to receive matching funds!

How Your Donation Impacts Sunflower Hill

  • $30 buys chicken feed for one month; working with animals gives our participants a sense of responsibility
  • $75 pays for ingredients and supplies for one cooking class at Irby Ranch (these are held twice a month)
  • $100 helps purchase art and craft supplies for Irby Ranch activities
  • $150 pays for 15 people to participate in an Irby Ranch field trip (to museums, bowling, the movies, and more!) – this helps to build social skills and lifelong friendships
  • $200 could provide a scholarship for two participants in the winter Hands-On Garden Program
  • $500 pays for straw mulch in the Garden for one year; this protects the soil and allows for a good growing season
  • $1,000 supports one Garden program participant for one year
I like living on my own and becoming more independent. Sunflower Hill has community that provides places to interact with people who are like me. They have a lot of activities that I am successful at and that I enjoy helping out with. I enjoy working out with the garden on Fridays and helping people. Jennifer, Irby Ranch resident
"I like the garden because of all the tasks we do and the garden makes me feel relaxed.” “I like meeting new people at the garden and seeing all the plants. Being at the garden makes me feel happy and joyful." Two participants from Futures Explored - Go Group
Irby Ranch has not only changed the life of our son, Andrew, who is a resident of Sunflower Hill at Irby Ranch, but it's also changed our entire family's life. It's given Andrew his independence like his brother and peers have. It's given my husband and I freedom to enjoy traveling while having the peace of mind that Andrew is happy and safe. It's given our other son, Robbie, the gift of enjoying his relationship with his brother while not having to worry about housing him and taking care of him in later years. Sunflower Hill changes the lives of the entire family when a resident moves into their new home. Janeen Rubino-Brumm, Parent of Irby Ranch resident
We are so grateful to everyone at Sunflower Hill for their hard work and labor of love in growing beautiful vegetables and fruit for the women and children who are healing from trauma here at Shepherd's Gate. We are honored to be a recipient of such a wonderful gift because our program would not be able to financially afford a variety of healthy fresh vegetables and fruit all year round. We are so grateful for this partnership. Carol Patterson, CEO, Shepherd's Gate
The produce that Sunflower Hill provides to Tri-Valley Haven’s Food Pantry is vital. It allows families in great need to select healthy items grown locally. Garden program participants deliver and bring inside the produce themselves, which is incredibly helpful. Without Sunflower Hill, and their garden produce, Tri-Valley Haven’s food pantry would be without produce at critical times. Christine Dillman, Executive Director, Tri-Valley Haven
The beautiful greens, fruits and edible flowers we receive as a donation from the Sunflower Hill Garden completely support our mission of providing healing and healthy meals to those going through cancer. We are incredibly thankful for this important partnership, which not only helps to offset our program costs, but allows us to support our recipients who rely on our meals during their time of need. Lisa McNaney, Culinary Angels Founder, Executive Director
