Edie Nehls to Step Down as Sunflower Hill Executive Director

Dear Sunflower Hill Community,

On behalf of the Sunflower Hill Board of Directors, I’m saddened to share that Edie Nehls will be stepping down as the Executive Director of Sunflower Hill. I hope you will join me in thanking her for her years of service as the organization’s first Executive Director.

Edie joined our organization in 2018 – a pivotal and transformational time for Sunflower Hill. She quickly integrated with the organization and transformed the day-to-day operations, implementing administrative policies and procedures to professionalize and prepare Sunflower Hill for growth. Working in close collaboration with the Board of Directors, Edie strategically and thoughtfully grew the staff, enhanced revenue streams, and led the organization through a global pandemic, quickly shifting programming online to maintain relevancy for constituents, while ensuring the health and safety of staff. During her tenure, she worked closely with SAHA, our affordable housing development partner, seeing the Irby Ranch construction project through to completion with the first residents moving in a year ago.

In her resignation, Edie said, “I feel tremendously fortunate to have been involved in the work of Sunflower Hill over the past three and a half years. It has been an incredibly meaningful and purposeful experience. I’m very grateful to have worked alongside such a collaborative Board of Directors and talented and passionate colleagues. While my decision to step down was not easy, I’m excited and optimistic for the future of Sunflower Hill.”

We hope you will join us in celebrating Edie’s many accomplishments. Her enthusiasm and professionalism have been an incredible asset to Sunflower Hill and she will be missed.

Edie’s last day will be at the end of October 2021. We have formed a Search and Transition Committee who will appoint an interim Executive Director while simultaneously conducting a search for a permanent replacement.

Thanks to Edie’s efforts, we remain incredibly optimistic about the future of Sunflower Hill. We hope you will continue to support the mission and vision of Sunflower Hill as we take these next important steps.

All my best,
