mission, vision, and operations of Sunflower Hill

Ten years ago, a group of dedicated parents and community leaders came together with a singular vision: to create an organization dedicated to places and spaces where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) could live, work, learn, and thrive. It was an ambitious goal – but the need was great and the commitment unwavering.
Over the past ten years, Sunflower Hill has blossomed and not just at the Garden at Hagemann Ranch! We opened Sunflower Hill at Irby Ranch, helping us to realize the goal of providing accessible and affordable housing for adults with I/DD in the Tri-Valley area. Creative social and skill building programs such as Popcorn Chat, Cooking Classes, and online activities were created to allow programming to continue during the COVID-19 pandemic (and are still going strong).
We have a lot to celebrate – and just like our namesake, the Sunflower, we will continue to ‘turn to the sun’, grow and prosper. New residential communities are on the horizon. Innovative programs are in development. And with the commitment of our dedicated Board of Directors, community partners, donors, staff, volunteers, and the greater community, we know the best is yet to come.
That’s why we’ve created the Sunflower Celebration Fund – an unrestricted opportunity to honor and celebrate Sunflower Hill’s ten years of community impact. Your support will ensure the mission, vision and operations continue – today, tomorrow, and always.

We will publicly announce the opportunity to support the Sunflower Celebration Fund at our upcoming fundraising gala, the Sunflower Soiree, on October 21 at McGrail Vineyards and Winery in Livermore.
